💙 Drop-Off & Pick-Up Safety at Hollywood Beach

Dear Hollywood Beach Families,

The safety of our children is always our number one priority. I recently met with the Oxnard Police Department Patrol Division to discuss our drop-off and pick-up procedures and some of the safety concerns we are seeing around campus. They will be helping us reinforce the parking and traffic signs that are already in place, along with making a few changes to help keep our keiki safe.

🚗 Please follow these important safety reminders:

🛑 No Parking in Front of the Walk-Up Gate
The area directly in front of our walk-up gate will be painted red by the Oxnard Police Department. This area must remain clear at all times. The existing No Parking sign will be strictly enforced. Keeping this area open allows our children and families to safely enter and exit campus.

↩️ Please Do Not Make an Illegal Left Turn into the Drop-Off Area
There is a No Left Turn sign at the entrance to the drop-off area. We are asking everyone to please follow this traffic law. Making an illegal left turn creates a dangerous situation for children and families who are walking through this area.

A safer route is to:

Drive down Harbor → Turn right on La Brea St. → Turn right on Sunset Ln. → Turn right on Channel Islands.

This route allows you to enter the drop-off area without making an illegal turn and helps keep traffic

Right Turn Only When Exiting Drop-Off
Oxnard PD will also be installing a sign at the end of the drop-off area reminding drivers that they may only turn right when exiting.

🚙 Please Pull All the Way Forward
When dropping off your child, please pull all the way forward in the drop-off zone before your child exits the vehicle. This helps keep traffic moving and prevents cars from backing up into the street.

Please know that students can safely walk back along the sidewalk to the walk-up gate after getting out of the car. Pulling forward may feel like a small thing, but it makes a big difference in keeping the entire drop-off area moving and, most importantly, keeping children safe.

I know that drop-off and pick-up can be busy and sometimes stressful, but every one of us plays an important role in keeping our children safe. These traffic rules and procedures are not simply about convenience or compliance. They are about making sure every child who walks through our gates gets to school safely and goes home safely.
